A wise man said to me once- 'Do a bit every day', referring to painting. Some days I have hardly any time and not a lot of energy. On days like these I might pull out a couple of discarded cigarette lighters (which I collect) and a hacksaw. in the evening when I finished work or whatever. I Sometimes do more elaborate shapes, sometimes like here I do triangles. If there's gas left in them I'll turn up the flame really high and burn it off first.
I didn't have anywhere specific in mind for this. The assemblage painting I plonked the finished piece on at the end of the vid was the nearest one to hand. I ended up using it in a more recent artwork-in-progress, Le Freak Plastique. There are a couple of bits of hardened acrylic peeled from a butter tub used as a palette and a cd case, as well as the famous yellow lighter triangle beside a blue one. Different coloured glue gives it a red and pistaccio green tinge so its not immediately recognisable. |
